SUMSUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Having a wide role within our Operations team, the Sr. Buyer is primarily responsible for supporting procurement of assigned commodities to meet for best value, on time delivery and high quality. This role requires knowledge of key electro-mechanical and Optical commodity markets, contracting and negotiations. Main responsibilities include:
ES ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Review, analyze and process purchase requisitions: 30%
Update Material Master, SAP data: 30%
Work with suppliers and manufacturing team to ensure cost, delivery, quality requirements are met: 20%
Work with manufacturing team to optimize supply chain: 10%
Timely disposition of MRB and ECM material: 10%
Coordinating and ensuring timely procurement of materials to meet production needs.
Reviewing, analyzing and processing purchase requisitions as needed.
Negotiating and finalizing pricing for commodities.
Establishing Long Term Agreements (LTA) or pricing agreements that meet the BNS’ with regard to cost control and guaranteed supply.
Actively participating in cross-functional teams to find new sources, supplier selections and negotiations.
Obsolescent notification to Operations and Engineering
Engineering Change Management coordination with Operations and Engineering
Strong coordination with Planning/Scheduling to ensure material schedules line with revenue requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Strong knowledge and experience with ERP systems (SAP experience highly desired)
Knowledge of materials master data bases
Proven ability to work effectively with systems and components vendors and suppliers at all levels
Strong negotiation skills
Bachelor’s degree desired but not required (preferably in Supply Chain Management, Business, or Engineering)
Minimum 5 years progressive experience in the field of procurement – management experience preferred (preference: purchasing of mechanical, electronic components and assemblies)
