Job Summary

eCommerce Executive sits at the intersection between Marriott International’s eCommerce, marketing, and global distribution strategies. This role helps their property effectively pull through the sales, marketing, and customer engagement activities that drive awareness and profitability. This role will also manage overall activation of their property strategies in owned and third party electronic channels (Marriott.com, multi-lingual global sites, OTAs, meta search sites, search engines, B2B channels and other eMarketing vehicles). This role will work to increase revenue, grow market share and create a compelling experience that steers customers towards booking on our direct online property channels. eCommerce Executive oversees the online execution and pull-through of corporate, regional and area priorities at the property level. To this end, he/she will be in touch with their Regional Digital Services team on a regular basis to make sure they are fully activated and optimized on Marriott.com, appropriate in-language global sites and online travel agency sites (OTAs). This position will report in to the property Director of Revenue Management.

Education and Experience

  • University degree in marketing, technology, or business preferred

  • 2 - 3 years of internet marketing and analytics experience in the hospitality industry

  • Strong understanding of traditional and online analytical marketing

  • Detail oriented, with demonstrated track record of follow-through and delivery

  • Able to work independently and prioritize objectively

  • Demonstrates self-confidence, energy and enthusiasm

  • Demonstrates strong willingness to collaborate and exceptional teamwork

  • Strong written and oral communications skills, preferably in English and at least one other Asian language

  • Motivated self-starter

  • Ability to track promotions, synthesize data, and provide reports

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

eCommerce and eDistribution Strategy Execution

  • Executes appropriate on-strategy eCommerce priorities and tactics

  • Collaborate with Director of Sales & Marketing to execute appropriate B2B strategy and tactics

  • Collaborate with Digital Services Manager to drive hotel awareness via PLUS Program and Expedia Travelads

  • Coordinates with the Director of Revenue Management and the Digital Services Manager to validate and track ecommerce goals for the hotel

  • Reviews hotel progress against established goals periodically, provides reporting and analysis, and troubleshoots performance issues

  • Manages budgets for eCommerce activities

  • Develops an annual game plan for the hotel identifying key focus areas for the year; reports out on progress on a monthly basis

Online Acquisition Marketing

  • Coordinates execution of online marketing efforts through approved agencies/vendors and the Corporate Digital Services team

  • Optimizes Paid Search performance of the hotel

  • Leverages the PLUS Plarform to execute online marketing efforts for the hotel

  • Executes online marketing activities in partnership with hotel and cluster Marketing leaders (e.g., loading Marriott.com Hotel Website deals, deals on TripAdvisor.com, Group Deals, Group Value Dates, email marketing and affiliate marketing)

  • Assures that hotel websites on Marriott.com and global sites are fully optimized to maximize traffic from search engines

  • Identifies hotel-specific online activation needs (e.g., local channels to focus marketing efforts through), and consults with the Director of Digital Services to identify suitable solutions

Hotel Web Site Content Optimization

  • Conducts regular audits of the Hotel Web Site to ensure the hotel is optimized for high quality custom images, content, links, and accurate translations; takes corrective action where necessary

  • Develops hotel website modules for Spa, Golf, Food & Beverage, weddings, etc.

  • Champions hotel use of e-tools to grow online bookings for Group and Corporate business

  • Develops the offer landing page on Marriott.com for hotel deals for Marriott Rewards Members and Non-Members

OTAs and Meta Search Channel Optimization

  • Ensures that the hotel is participating in relevant, approved echannels

  • Ensure that the hotel is ranked well on top OTA sites, and that there is rate parity across sites

  • Regularly audits content, images, and star ratings on OTAs and Meta Search sites, and makes appropriate corrections

  • Defines and executes the hotel OTA merchandising plan(s)

  • Executes hotel OTA marketing and merchandising tactics as needed (e.g. Agoda newsletter, Expedia TravelAds, etc.)

  • Builds strong relationships with OTA Account Managers for the top 3-4 OTA partners

eCommerce Training and Reporting

  • Uses the eCommerce Resource guide on MGS

  • Participates in regularly-scheduled global and regional eCommerce and Marketing web conferences and calls to stay up-to-date on industry news, strategies and tactics

  • Delivers a monthly report documenting recent activities and hotel eCommerce performance to the property Sales Strategy Team and a Quarterly Business Review (QBR) with the Digital Services Manager

  • Stay up-to-date on and communicate industry and competitive trends, with a focus on the domestic online travel landscape
