JD: Senior Analyst, Information Acquisition and Analytics, TMT

This position will be part of IHS Technology Research Centers of Excellence. The team, located in Malaysia and India, is engaged in research and analysis, data collection, collation, synthesis and processing of information for all of IHS Technology domain areas. In addition to having the technical skills required for market research and analysis in the Technology, Media and Telecom industry, this role will be focused on managing all large volume information acquisition and analytics projects including improving data quality and processing efficiency.

  • Responsible for efficiently gathering large volumes of information and data relevant to TMT research and analysis from internal and external sources

  • Design, develop and implement solutions using machine learning techniques to enable, enhance and provide the information in structured databases and derive insights

  • Working with internal partners to enhance existing systems to recognize patterns in existing data constantly and implement necessary machine learning tools to enhance accuracy and completeness of information

  • Responsible for complete end to end process of understanding information needs, implementing information acquisition solutions and delivering ready to use final databases

  • Providing expertise in building and enhancing forecasting models

  • Provide technical thought leadership, coaching and mentorship in the field of machine learning, and data science in general

  • Working with colleagues to supervise projects and colleagues as needed

Qualification

  • A minimum of four year degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or another quantitative discipline. Additional education is preferred.

  • Five or more years of experience in the following relevant areas: machine learning, data mining, quantitative analysis, and predictive modeling

  • Experience applying machine learning techniques for the development of products and analytical solutions is required

  • Strong proficiency in machine learning and advanced statistical techniques

  • Strong proficiency in programming with R and SQL is required

  • Experience with Python is a plus

  • Ability to communicate effectively using visual tools (i.e. PowerPoint, MS BI) is desirable. Established ability to communicate effectively and proactively

  • Experience in the end-to-end analytic products development process and the related engineering activities

  • Demonstrated ability to understand problems and conceptualize solutions through mastery of data manipulation, exploratory data analysis, modeling, and visualization of results

  • Experience forecasting using variables is preferred, but not required

  • Need to have a passion and drive for finding meaning in large data sets and identifying actionable results
