Summary

As a member of the Global Live Web team, you will be working across APAC to provide technical support to students attending Live Web classes and to instructors who teach these courses. Other responsibilities include maintaining the hardware and software in the Live Web studio rooms and maintaining a virtualized environment, which encompasses a Moodle server environment (Linux), Citrix server farm, Active Directory, Web gateways, and virtual machines. (Live Web classes use a combination of Web conferencing, audio conferencing, and a virtual lab to deliver real-time, instructor-led training over the Internet.)

Duties include: managing accounts, authentication, enrolments, roles, permissions, server settings, backups and overall performance of a Moodle server environment; monitoring Live Web classes and providing technical support via Web conferencing, Citrix management tools, e-mail and telephone as appropriate to customers and instructors during the class; answering technical support questions from customers and instructors as needed; isolating and documenting problems; working with various groups within SAS, Microsoft and Citrix as appropriate to resolve technical problems and answer questions; installing, configuring, and upgrading software, including Citrix, Microsoft Terminal Services, SAS software, and necessary patches.

Essential

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related quantitative field. Candidates with equivalent experience also considered.

  • Experience with interactive network environment and one or more client/server operating systems required.

  • User support, customer support, or training experience.

  • Experience documenting customer issues in ticketing system.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Excellent knowledge of the Windows operating system.

  • Bilingual speaking proficiency in Chinese (Mandarin)/English (Able to read and write would be an added advantage).

Preferences

  • Experience managing projects.

  • Experience in desk-side support.

  • Experience working with vendors.

  • Experience administering a Moodle software environment.

  • Knowledge of major Web browser configuration.

  • Working knowledge of Powershell.

  • Knowledge of networking theory, protocols, ports, routing, and bandwidth.

  • Knowledge of Web conferencing tools, specifically Adobe Connect Professional.

  • Knowledge of Citrix, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2012, Active Directory Management, virtualization, SANs, and Microsoft Terminal Services.

  • Knowledge of machine imaging.

  • Software and network security knowledge and/or experience.

  • Knowledge of audio conferencing solutions, including VoIP and/or mixed audio.

  • Experience working remotely with international clients an advantage.
