Role Summary:

Baker Hughes Incorporated (BHI) offers the opportunity for an experienced Geomarket Procurement Lead to support the Supply Chain team in Malaysia.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Represents all Geomarket procurement and purchasing activities in a matrix organization

  • Leads the Geomarket Procurement team on key initiatives, executing of plans and the development of strategies in Geomarket Operations for cost savings, cost reductions and vendor rationalizations.

  • Leads the Geomarket Procurement team on improving KPI performance as measured by the Global Procurement dashboard.

  • Responsible for moderate to complex procurement projects and activities including working with the Product Line Leadership to support their performance goals and metrics.

  • Provides regular progress updates on areas of responsibility in presentations to Procurement and Executive leadership

  • Conducts weekly staff meetings with their team to communicate corporate news and updates, progress on initiatives, and to encourage the sharing of best practices

  • Provides coaching and mentorship to the Geomarket Purchasing Managers to further their personal development and the success of their purchasing teams

  • Proposes and implements improvements to procurement policies, processes and organizational structures.

  • Identifies priority training needs for entire Geomarket Procurement organization and works with Human Resources to formulate training support

  • Instils standardization across the organization and exploits the full implementation of the Baker Hughes Operating System (BHOS).

  • Engages with functional support organizations such as Supplier Quality, Finance, IT, etc. to drive initiatives and to align policies and procedures

  • Maintains thorough industry and commodity knowledge.

  • Fosters active daily use of continuous improvement tools to improve HS&E, quality, delivery, financial performance, employee engagement, and customer satisfaction.

  • Handles special projects as assigned.

  • Conducts all business activities in accordance with Baker Hughes health, safety and environmental policies, legal compliance requirements and Baker Hughes core values


  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Supply Chain Management or equivalent field of study.

  • 8 years’ experience in sourcing/procurement for direct and indirect spend, including 3 years’ experience in a leadership role.

  • Excellent management skills.

  • Excellent ability to communicate with internal customers and suppliers.

  • SAP knowledge and experience required

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft office systems.

  • Strong negotiation and contract skills. Well-rounded Supply Chain experience and job history with demonstrated leadership skills.

  • Energetic self-starter that must be able to adapt to changing priorities.

  • Knowledge of Master Supply Agreements (MSAs) or contracts - content and structure, INCO terms, payment terms and SOX compliance preferred.

  • Manufacturing process knowledge helpful

  • Professional certification, such as APICS

  • Six Sigma Certification, experience with lean principals and continuous improvement initiatives
