Agilent Technologies, Inc. R&D Mechanical Engineer in Bayan Lepas, Malaysia
Roles and Responsibilities :
Mechanical lead (technical and tasks lead, schedule, issues tracking, job allocations, etc.) for NPI and TBB (Technology building block) projects.
Mechanical architect (mechanical outline, components placement, master modeler, etc.) for NPI and TBB projects.
Perform mechanical design and development activities (proposals, risks assessment, concepts study, detail designs, analysis, drawings, prototypes, tests, etc.)
Mainly involve in mechanical designs consist of enclosures, sheet metal chassis system, mechanism, automation, heating/cooling, optic or fluidic system.
New technologies study/research and perform proof of concept (POC) design.
Conduct mechanical engineering tests, verification tests, characterizations, cyclic and reliability tests according to product specification.
Perform root cause analysis based on the issues found during development and sustaining phase.
Components sizing, calculation and selection. (Motors, gears, CAM, peltier device, etc.)
Perform structural, thermal and/or optical simulations.
Perform cost down study on existing instruments and come out with a cost down proposals.
Design to meet project targeted BOM cost.
Ensure all the designs are documented and recorded into the system.
Communicate and collaborate with internal teams (PM, Marketing/internal customers, Test engineers, Application engineer, Hardware engineer, Firmware, Software engineer, production engineer and etc.) and external teams (suppliers, design partners, contract manufacturers, etc.).
Generate product specifications, verification and validation plans, test plans, etc.
Bachelor’s/Master’s/PhD in Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum 8 years of mechanical design experience in R&D; environment.
An experienced mechanical lead.
Familiar with ISO13485 RnD design environment.
Experience in medical/life science/chemical analysis or any other laboratory instrument design.
Experience in one or more of the following designs:- Mechanism, low cost automation, optic, fluidic, chassis, heating and cooling system.
Knowledgeable in statistical tools, DFMEA, 8D troubleshooting process and etc.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Strong leadership and influencing skill.
Able to work in an environment with minimum information provided.
Team player who can “wear multiple hats” and establish good rapport with internal customers, cross-functional team members and suppliers.
Able to adapt well in a dynamic working environment, eager to learn new knowledge, able to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong communication and planning skills required.
